One of the biggest Viking treasures ever found has been discovered on an English farm by a father and son team of treasure hunters, according to the British Museum. The trove of more than 600 coins and dozens of other objects was buried more than 1,000 years ago, a collection of items from Ireland, France, Russia and Scandinavia that testified to the raiders' international reach. The father and son were trawling through a farmer's field near Harrogatem in northern England, on January 6, when their metal detector squealed. The pair found a silver bowl more than a foot beneath the soil. Under British law, such finds must be reported to authorities.

Increasing Food Costs Blamed On Ethanol

Food costs kept rising in June, but motorists finally got some relief at the gas pump, helping to lower inflation to the smallest increase in five months. The Labor Department reported that consumer prices edged up by 0.2 percent in July. That was the best showing since January and far below the 0.7 percent surge of May, the biggest jump in nearly two years.But with the use of corn for ethanol pushing up food costs and gasoline prices rising again in July, economists said the moderation in inflation could prove temporary.

Bush Sets Up Panel To Ensure Safety of Food

President Bush established a Cabinet-level panel to recommend how to guarantee the safety of imported food and other products brought into the country and how to better police them. The White House denied the effort was aimed at China, though the announcement came the same day that senators heard testimony from regulators about problems caused by the extremely rapid growth of imports from China. The panel is expected to report its recommendations to the president in 60 days. It will review procedures and regulations and look at safety issues in countries that send goods to the United States. This is a serious issue.

Million Dollar Farmers Would Lose Subsidies

The House Agriculture Committee voted to ban federal subsidies to farmers with incomes averaging more than $1 million a year and stop farmers from collecting payments for multiple properties. Only farmers whose incomes exceed $2.5 million a year are now disqualified from such aid. The Committee is putting together a wide-ranging, five year farm bill to replace the current law that governs Agriculture Department programs and expires in September. The limits are an attempt to appease a growing number of critics, including the Bush administration who say the country's farm subsidies need an overhaul.At the same time, the bill would increase the maximum limit on direct payments, subsidies that are not based on current crop production or prices.

The United States said there was clear evidence of arms smuggling across the Syrian border to terrorist groups in Lebanon, and accused Iran and Syria of playing a negative role in the country. The U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations, made the accusation after a closed Security Council meeting to discuss progress on a U.N. resolution that ended last summer's war between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas backed by Syria and Iran. China Storms Kill At Least 59 Amid Record Rainfall

Torrential rains, mud flows and lightning strikes have killed at least 59 people in China this week. Twenty-two people were killed in when rainstorms hit Jinan, capital of eastern Shandong province. Six people were missing and 142 were injured. The city and surrounding area received a record 7 inches of rainfall over three hours. The storm disrupted traffic and cut off electricity and the water supply also.

Mandy Pantikin Quits "Criminal Minds"

This one of my favorite shows and I just found out that Mandy Pantikin is leaving the show due to creative differences. Pantikin, who is 54, asked to be released from his role as FBI profiler Jason Gideon. His exit will be explained in an early episode this fall and wasn't related to a contract renegotiation or salary issue. A new character will be added to the show which began on 2005. Militant Attacks Kill 17 Afgan Policemen

Militants killed 17 Afgan police officers across Afghanistan, while four suspected Taliban fighters died in a clash with NATO and Afgan troops. Six police officers were killed when their convoy was ambushed along the Kabul-Kandahar highway, a ribbon of road that connects Afghanistan's two major cities. Long stretches of Highway 1 run through areas controlled by Taliban militants. Taliban fighters also ambushed police in Logar province, killing six officers and stealing two police trucks.

North Korea

North Korea says their nuclear reactor has been shutdown. Can we trust them to be telling the truth? In a speech, Syrian President Bashar Assad, said a third country recently offered to serve as a mediator with Israel. 69 People Poisoned in Ukraine by Toxic Cloud

The number of people treated for exposure to toxic smoke from a phosphorus fire more than tripled to 60 July 18, officials said a day after a train carrying the chemical derailed and caught fire. about half of those affected,including 19 children, were hospitalized for exposure to the smoke. Independent Channel 5 television, without citing sources, reported that 72 people were hospitalized and some residents and experts questioned authorities claims that people in 13 affected villages near the city of Lviv were safe.

North Korea Willing To Disable Nuclear Facilities

North Korea offered to meet a U.S. request that it declare and disable its nuclear programs by the end of the year. South Korea said, indicating its will to comply with a disarmament pledge after shutting down the sole operating reactor. The North pledged in February to shut its sole operating reactor and disable the rest of its nuclear program in return for 1 million tons of oil and political concessions. It shut down the putonium-producing Yongbyon reactor over the weekend, and North Koreas's chief nuclear negotiator offered to meet a year-end deadline for a complete shutdown according to South Korean chief negotiator.

I have acute arthritis in my feet and knees. I took the Freeze It and rubbed it into both my feet and knees and what to my surprise -it really works. Soft Brace

I got my cast off my right hand yesterday after five long weeks. The incision looks real good and now I have to massage the skin over it to soften it up so it will move like on the other hand. Also do an exercise, palm up as far as I can turn it level or more and that's about it. Went to the physical therapist today and she apologized because the appointment was so short because I was doing above average and doing so well. I could do everything she wanted. I can squeeze 50 with my left hand with this thing and 20 with the surgical hand. She said that was good too, Just be careful and take it slow and no heavy lifting with it. She said most people she sees with this kind of surgery are in terrible shape. Praise the Lord! I go back to the doctor again August 15th.

Over 1800 people attended the funeral of Lady Bird Johnson. Among the crowd were former presidents and fellow first ladies. Two huge floral displays were at the front of the sanctuary and were made up of flowers, including wildflowers and blooms from the gardens of friends of the first lady who was an environmentalist. Honda, Hershey's and other multinational companies temporarily shut down their factories in western Mexico after rebels attacked a key natural gas pipeline. Mining Giant Offers To Buy Canada's Alcan

Rio Tinto, mining giant in Sydney, Australia, offered to buy Canadian aluminum company Alcan Inc. for $38.1 billion in cash. This was a friendly takeover that tops a hostile bid by US based Alcoa. The bid exceeds a $28 billion offer of cash and stock from Alcoa that Alcan's board rejected in May, and would create the largest aluminum company. Alcoa, Inc. withdrew its offer on Thursday after being outbid. In a joint statement Rio Tinto and Alcan said the Anglo-Australian was offering $101 a share for Alcan and that Alcan's board was recommending the deal to shareholders.

Charles Lane, Actor, Dies

He was 102. His son, Tom Lane, said he was talking with his father at 9 p.m. Monday. He was lying in bed with his eyes real wide open. Then he closed his eyes and stopped breathing. Afghan President Criticizes Militants

President Hamid Karzai called militant attacks cowardly work. He deplored a suicide bombing that killed 12 children and accused the fighters of running from battle by donning women's clothing. Speaking in a measured tone, he said the purported "bravery" of militants consisted of killing innocent people and children. Whenever there is pressure on them, they escape in women's burqas. He didn't explain that comment, but past reports of Taliban militants in Afghanistan wearing the identity-concealing robe to flee detection. Also, the leader of a besieged mosque in Pakistan was captured last week trying to slip out dressed in a burqa and high heels.

Marines Killed

Fourteen Marines were killed and some beheaded. Muslim insurgents ambushed a Philipine marine convoy searching for a kidnapped Italian priest and killed 14 troops, beheading at least 10 of them, according to a military spokesman. The chaotic, seven hour firefight took place in dense jungle on the southern island of Basilan. The military blamed the Abu Sayyaf for the clash and said nine other marines were wounded.

Home Interiors

I really like my home interiors and the way they are arranged. They really add something to a home, don't you think? I suppose they are a bit expensive but they last almost forever and you can re-arrange them if you like. If you have a nice picture you can arrange leaves and sconces around them.

Fresh Air

Finally turned off the air conditioner after weeks of running it every day. It was 78 just now when we came home according to the bank thermometer. There is a nice cool northwest wind and we have the windows open and letting fresh air into the house again. It sure is nice.

New Dishes

I got a set of new dishes that are microwave proof. I only for a service for four but that is plenty for the two of us. They are a real pretty blue with a lighthouse scene on them and really brighten up the table and meals. I like my Correlle but I found if you microwave them too long the gold mark on the bottom will start burning through and that isn't good.

Daughter's Vehicle

Our daughter got the neatest vehicle. It is a Ford Escape and I guess you would call it an SUV. I kind of get mixed up between some SUV's and vans. She really likes it because she is up in the world and she is short like me so that is a great advantage. and she can haul alot in it too. That makes it very handy.

Decks

We have a great deck on the east side of the house. It is so nice and shady in the afternoon, whereas our neighbors is directly in the sun. I kind of feel sorry for them as they aren't as able to enjoy theirs as much as we can. It is too bad that all decks can't be built on the north side of houses as there is shade all the time then.

Letters

Do you enjoy receiving letters? I do. My aunt writes me quite regularly and she is 89 and nearly blind from mascular degeneration. They have email where she lives now so I try to email her at least once a week, They give them their emails at breakfast so that starts their day on a happy note. She loves where she lives.

Mobile Homes

I think mobile homes get a bad wrap. There seems to be a stigma attached to living in a mobile home. But I disagree. We have a beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath, very comfortable mobile home with central air and a double garage. We live in kind of a cul-de-sac so it is dead end except for three of us. Our landlord had the foresight to set the homes all at various angles, instead of the row by row type. It is very homey and we love it.

My Computer

My computer has an older Gateway monitor but it is a big one and I sure like it. The color is very good and it is easy to read. My kids hooked up everything for me and I was all set to go. I have been posting on it now for about 6 months and really enjoy it. Email has done away with letter writing though, and sometimes we miss getting letters in the snail mail, as it is called today.

My Printer

I got my printer free. It was brand new and had only been used by the original owner a couple of times. I didn't even know how to run it or put the ink cartridges in but my son helped me and now I don't know what I did without it. It sure saves me copying alot of things by hand.

New Baby

The neighbors had a new baby last summer and now she is walking all around, playing with the older kids. Where did the time fly by? She is trying to talk and just had a big birthday party where all the relatives came and enjoyed cake and ice cream. They all had alot of fun, especially the baby girl, who is growing up so fast, she isn't really a baby anymore.

Electronics

Electronics- what did we ever do without them. I just looked around the house and in one room we have a tv that just plays VCR tapes. In another room we have a tv, satellite receiver and VCR. In another room we have 2 satellite receivers, DVD/VCR, VCR, 2 televisions. and then in another room we have the computer and printer. Then there is the cell phone. What DID we ever do without them all. I really don't know.

What's Your Favorite Car Color?

I have alot of favorites, but right now we have a red Pontiac Bonneville and we love it. We have had just about every kind of car in our lifetime as my husband always has a bug to trade cars. Fresh Fried Potatoes

Is there anything better than fresh fried potatoes? Of course we use the best most healthy oil to fry them in and they are so good. We have them frequently with supper and they are so good too, eaten along with fresh green onions out of the garden. The neighbor brought us fresh radishes too. They are so much more crisp and delicious than those in the store.

Rufus

Rufus is a cute little Pappion dog. He is so little and cute. He is so much fun to watch in the wintertime as he just loves snow. Without his hair, there would be nothing to him and you would think he would freeze outside but he just loves it. When Spring comes and the snow gets down to just spots and piles, he runs and jumps in them just like a kid. He's a delight to watch playing in the snow.

Beautiful Cool Morning

What a beautiful day it is today. It is below normal for temperatures which is delightful after having 100 degree weather for awhile. I don't like the hot weather and humidity. I would rather stay in the air conditioned house any time it is so hot. Today is going to be perfect for opening windows and letting in the fresh air.

Grocery Shopping

I am going to have to go grocery shopping again soon. Our local grocery store has completely redone their shelves and moved so many items around that you have to hunt for them. I always liked to make out my list according to the way the aisles were arranged but now I have to start all over. That is fine if you have alot of time to look for things, but if you are in a hurry, it is a bummer.

The Dog Next Door

The dog next door is a big black Lab. He is so loving and craves attention so much. He is fenced in with a good building to get out of the weather and he gets really scared in storms, the same as our Holly does. As soon as we drive in, he comes to the fence to be petted and sometimes lets you throw his ball. He is a fine pet.

My Typewriter

My typewriter quit after many many years of use. It is an IBM Selectric and although I have the computer now, I would still like to get it fixed as it is such a good elecric typewriter. I was able to buy it from our office a few years ago because everything went to computers but I always enjoyed typing on it. It is just about like an old friend to me so I would like to see it running again.

Fixing Up Their House

Our daughter and her husband have been doing a real fixup and updating on the outside of their home. They have changed the siding from green to a nice slate blue and it looks so nice. Then they tore out all the overgrown bushes and trees and landscaped all around the house and it looks so nice. I forgot to mention that they got new windows too. They really have a nice home.

Mexico Rebels Claim Oil Attacks

A little known leftist rebel group in Mexico says it carried out a series of recent attacks on oil pipelines. The Popular Revolutionary Army EPR)said it had attacked oil installations of the state-owned oil company, Pemex. The EPR, which has been inactive for several years, said it acted to press the government to release two of the group's jailed members. No one was injured in the blasts, one on Tuesday and three last week, but oil supplies were disrupted. Mexico's government has launched investigations.

It's Duesey Days in our little town this weekend. This where the Duesenberg brothers built the first Duesenberg car. At least it is going to be cooler this weekend. We are very thankful for that. They don't have enough stuff for kids like other towns. They need to have rides for the older ones. There will be plenty of food to go around tough.

Fish Fry Friday

It won't be long and it will be Friday before we know it. Then we will head for the fish fry. They don't only have fish but great chicken too. Also scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, candy cinnamon apple slices, applesauce, carrot and celery sticks, beef & noodles, green beans and warm pork and beans, fresh biscuits and butter, coffee, water or milk or you can get pop at the bar next door. Bedtime

Well it's bedtime for Holly. I fold up a comforter and put it in the Lazy Boy chair and she makes her bed in it, scratching around until she settles down. In the wintertime she likes to get right under the comforter to keep warm. she gets a little vasoline before she goes to bed. They say it is good to pass the hair through their system that they get licking their paws. She is geting all settled in now for the night. She is the best little dog.

Holly

Holly is out little 8 year old Boston Terrier. She has been the best dog we have ever had. I need to get her to the vet this week and have her nails trimmed and get a flea treatment and some of her good oral dog food. It really keeps her teeth good and clean and it sure helps that she has good teeth. Our last little dog had really bad teeth. She loves to come in here and lay down beside me while I post on the computer.

Great Grandchildren

We are very excited to learn that we have two great grandchildren coming at the same time this fall. The girls are sister-in-laws to each other. And one girl is the twin of the other girl's husband. Isn't that amazing? One lives not to far away and the other lived in Texas for now but they hope to move closer to the home families soon.

Alterations

I finally found some one who can do some alterations for me. I am so short, all my blouses could pass for mini dresses, they are so long on me. If it isn't the neighbors old truck running that needs a new muffler BAD, it is a heavily loaded train going through blowing his whistle like there is no tomorrow. They say our brain trains itself not to hear these noises at night when you are trying to sleep and they are right. I used to hear every train whistle when we first moved here but I sleep right through them now.

TexMex

Yippee> Tomorrow night is TEXMEX night. I seem to be able to manage taco salad, hard shelled tacos and mexi-rounds with my left hand quite well. But the rice and lettuce don't cooperate very well. You really have to work at getting that into your mouth with the wrong hand than the one you are used to.

Eating Out

I find that eating out with a cast on your right hand (and you are right handed) can be a real challenge. It's funny how food doesn't want to stay on your fork quite the same way with your left hand. That is one reason to go have pizza and chicken that you can pick it up with your hands and eat. Salad can be a very real challenge and if you don't wear some of it home, you have done well. :0)

Impatient Flowers

Have you ever had a hanging basket of Impatient flowers? They must get their name because they get impatient for water if you don't water them enough. They will go limp and look perfectly dead and then you water them and they spring back almost miraculously and look like nothing was wrong. They are very beautiful when they are in full bloom. Dollar Falls To Record Euro Low

The dollar has fallen to a record low against the euro and yet another 26 year slump against the pound. The town of Springfield, Vermont has beaten 13 rivals and will host the premier of the film about the animated family, The Simpsons. The show is set in a fictional Springfield because its creator, Matt Groening, spotted that it is one of the most common place names in the United States. Vermont was chosen in an online vote after 14 towns submitted videos to argue why their town should win. The premier is on July 21.

Canada Plans To Reclaim Arctic Waters

Canada has announced plans for six naval patrol vessels and a deep-water port in the north to assert its claim to territorial waters in the Arctic. Other countries, including the US, say the waters are international territory. The announcement at Canada's Pacific naval base comes in part to fulfill an election promise. Ottawa also sees economic potential in protecting its claim to the Arctic, as the area is thought to be rich in natural resources.

Baghdad's Green Zone Under Fire

A number of mortars have hit Baghdad's Green Zone according to a US embassy official. He added that there were no fatalities. But about 12 mortars landed in the heavily fortified district where the government and parliament are based, and which is also home to many foreign embassies. Eyewitnesses reported smoke rising from the area around the US embassy. There were no immediate reports of damage. It comes a week after Prime Minister Nouri Maliki warned militants against attacks on the Green Zone.

Tycoon Launches New Israeli Party

A Russian Billionaire has launched a new political party in Israel with the aim of toppling Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's coalition government. Arcadi Gaydamak said his new party, Social Justice, could win as many as 20 Knesset seats in the next election. He said he would not stand for the Knesset, but would first run for the office of mayor of Jerusalem. Some 1400 activists have already begun working for the new party which will hold is first meeting on Thursday.

Pakistan Militant Cleric Killed

A militant Pakistani cleric and about 50 of his supporters have been killed after troops stormed a mosque in Islamabad. Abdul Rashid Ghazi's body was found in the Red Mosque basement. Officials say he had been caught in the crossfire. The army says eight soldiers were also killed in the military operation, and about 50 women and children rescued. Students at the mosque and its attached religious schools have waged a campaign for months pressing for Sharia law.

U S Iraqi Chief Warns of Long War

General David Petraeus, the head of the US forces in Iraq, told the BBC that fighting the insurgency is a "long term endeavor" which could take decades. He said there was evidence that the recent troops surge was producing gains on the ground. But he warned that US forces were engaged in a tough fight which will get harder before it gets easier. His comments came as US calls for a rapid troop withdrawal gather strength

Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy

The don't ask, don't tell policy isn't working in the service according to a retired Army Reserve 1st Sgt who is gay. He is a 28 year Army veteran who has five children, several grandchildren and a cause. He is very opposed to this policy concerning gays in the military. He said that in 1993, President Clinton tried to end the policy of gays being excluded from the military. He said the effort failed but resulted in the "don't ask, don't tell" policy which hasn't worked.

Are Pit Bulls Dangerous?

Are pit bulls really any more dangerous than some other breeds of dogs? My grandson has one and he says it wouldn't hurt anyone? Is it the way they are treated as they are growing up? A 17 ear old girl was attacked Monday by a pit bull a bitten in the face and neck and is in the hospital in fair condition. This town is trying to get them outlawed altogether. I think they may get it done, because this hasn't been the first attack in this town. A couple of other pit bulls had to be euthanized due to attacks. One mailman was bitten also.

Ultrasound Test

We are off to the clinic and hospital this morning to have my husband have an ultrasound on his leg to be sure he does not have a bloodclot in there. They aren't sure what is hurting him but they want to rule out a blood clot. I think that is a very good idea as they can be fatal. They also think it may just be a pulled tendon but it is funny that he never did anything, just got out of his easy chair and there was the pain.

Farc Leader Guilty of US Kidnaps

Ricardo Palmera, Farc rebel leader,has been convicted by a US jury of plotting to hold three Americans hostage after they were captured in Colombia. After their aircraft crashed in the jungle during a mission to find illegal drug crops in 2003, the three US government contractors were taken by Farc. Though convicted over the hostages, who remain in Farc hands, the jury is still deliberating terrorism charges. Palmera, known as Simon Trinidad, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit hostage taking and now faces up to 30 years in prison. Once this trial is over, he will be tried om drug charges too.

The temperatures dropped to 8 below zero in Rio Negro in Argentina, while they saw snow in Buenos Aires, the first since 1918. In Bolivia, heavy snowfall blocked he nation's main highway and forced closure of several airports.

Four men have been found guilty of plotting to bomb London's transport network on July 21,2005. They were convicted at Woolwich Crown Court of conspiracy to murder. The men had tried to detonate rucksacks laden with explosives on the Tube and a bus, killing themselves and the passengers. But the bombs failed to go off sparing the city a repeat of the horrors of the 7/7 attacks, two weeks earlier.

Gert Steegmans edged out Quick-Step team mate Tom Boonen to win stage two of the Tour de France on Monday. There was a massive crash in which about 20 riders left to fight it out in a sprint finish in Ghent. It looked as though local boy, Boonen, was going o get up to claim what would have been a popular win. However fellow Belgian, Steegmans just held on. Fabian Cancellara of CSC, the Swiss overall leader, fell heavily in the pile up but retained the yellow jersey.

In their bid to sign striker Carlos Tevez from West Ham United, Manchester United may have to be patient. The United boss says they are close to signing up Tevez. They are in negotiations and want to make sure there are no side issues. They have agreed on the essential parts and hopefully, it will be finalized soon. It could take weeks yet.

Prices Cause Mass Arrests in Zimbabwe

A total of 1,328 Zimbabwean businessmen and women have been arrested and fined for breaking official price controls in the past two weeks. In order to tackle the world's highest rate of inflation - more than 3700%, the government ordered the prices of many goods to be cut in half. But the businesses said the new prices were below cost so some of them have closed. Zimbabwe's neighbors are trying to work on a plan to revive the economy, once one of Africa's most advanced.

Mexican Migrants were packed inside a single lorry. The Mexican police say they have detained 289 illegal migrants from Latin America including 226 from Guatemala. The Guatemalans were discovered during a routine road check and were dirty and dehydrated. also in the state of Veracruz, 63 illegal migrants were found hidden in a truck.

UN Approves North Korea Mission

The United Nations nuclear inspectors have been given the go-ahead to return to North Korea to begin the process of shutting down the main nuclear reactor. Since UN monitors were expelled in 2002, this will be the first time inspections have been allowed at Yongbyon and I guess i will believe it when it happens. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is composed of a 35 nation board of the UN's nuclear watchdog and they approved the mission at a meeting in Vienna. This will bear following up on.

Stolen Watch Found in France

Shortly after being stolen from a museum in Switzerland, officials reported a highly valuable collection of Swiss watches has been recovered in France. They belong to luxury watchmaker, GirarPerregaux and were found in a sack in scrubland in eastern France, near the Swiss border. Two men have been arrested for the theft and a third is being sought.

Bush Aides Will Not Testify

President Bush has invoked executive privilege to deny requests of Congress for the testimony of two aides over the firing of federal prosecutors. They are arguing over whether the attorneys were fired for political motives. In order to challenge President Bush's move, Democratic leaders say they could go to court. According to the White House, Mr, Bush is acting in good faith and has offered to let the aides do off-the-record interviews.

Cooler Weather

It was a little more livable today. Temperatures dropped down into the 80's instead of 100 degrees. That is just too hot for everything. The weatherman said he fell asleep in the sun and got a really bad sunburn. That is bad, no matter how much sun screen you have on. Skin cancer is becoming so common, everyone needs to be very careful out in the sun this time of year.

Doctor's Appointment

Today we went to the doctor to see what is bothering my husband's leg. He has had to limp now for about three days. So he figured he better find out what the problem is. He will have an ultrasound in the morning just to be sure he doesn't have a blood clot in there. They think he probably pulled a tendon somehow and that is why it hurts.

Iran Stops gas only Car Making

Iran has announced that it will stop producing purely gas driven cars and produce more dual-fuel vehicles, which also run on gas. They will stop production in a little over two weeks time. They say it is not clear whether Iran can produce enough gas or supply it to gas stations. The government introduced gas rationing last week, a policy which provoked widespread anger and violence. The move was an attempt to reduce the large subsidies the government spends on gas and to limit the country's rising gas consumption.

US Capital To Host Live Earth Gig

Washington D.C. has been added as a venue for Live Earth Concerts, organized by former US Vice President, Al Gore, to highlight climate change. Among the stars performing will be Garth Brooks and Tricia Yearwood. Several other cities will host these gigs. Among them will be Tokyo, Sidney, Hamburg and others. Somali Children Die In Mine Blast

There were five children playing with a land mine in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu. The device exploded and they were all killed. They ranged from six to 12 years of age and were playing football before they found it. One of them picked it up and threw it against a wall. They were on their way to mosque for Friday prayers when they stopped to play.

It's Hot Here

Just how hot is it? It is 90 degrees plus and going to get worse as the week progresses. We went to the fireworks last night and they were great as usual. Had walking tacos, rice krispie bars with chocolate frosting and washed it all down with Pepsi. Took a coat along as it sometimes has cooled off when the sun goes down but not last night. It stayed plenty warm. The corn is way past knee high for the 4th of july and we noticed most of it was in tassels already so the ears will be forming quickly. The new biodiesel plant is breaking ground a couple miles east of us and all these plants can hardly wait to get the corn crop in so they can make ethanol. We use Super unleaded ourselves all the time.

Sheriff Drives 14 Months On Expired Driver's License

I think this is hillarious. This Sheriff in South Carolina thought his license was good for 10 years but it was only good for five. He had been driving on the expired license so long he had to take the driver's test to get it back - and he failed. He flunked on his first try and said he did his three-point turn backwards. But then he did it again and he did ok. He's human like everyone else. It happens to alot of people. Mine comes up next month and you can be sure I won't forget.

Three Dead in Wildfire

There are three dead in a wildfire that moved across eastern Utal. It was fast-burning and two men who were working in a hay field and a third man died overnight from injuries he sustained in the blaze. A 43 year old man and his 63 year old father were working in the field in the afternoon when they were caught by the fire. Both died Friday. Another man who was injured in the fire died overnight. They were not sure if the third man was with the other two or not. Very sad. It seems what isn't being flooded in the U.S. is being burned by fires. It's a bad year so far.

Blackberry makers shares surged more than 15 percent in after hours trading Thursday after the Blackberry Maker, Research in Motion, Inc., said its first quarter earnings grew 73 percent on increased sales and subscriber additions. Missing British Girl

An arrest has been made in the case of the missing 4 year old British girl who vanished nearly two months ago during a vacation in Portugal. The man was arrested on suspicion of links to the case. The Police didn't say if the man was suspected of a role in the girl's disappearance. Spanish television news reports he may have tried to extort money from the girl's parents, offering them information about the whereabouts of their daughter. Police did not confirm that.

SHe has a diamond and they are attending pre-marital counseling but haven't set a date yet. Her daughter's father wants custody of her and her son's father is married now and wants custody of him. She has always had full custody so will see what happens in the future. Danielle has her own apartment and a very good job at Wells Fargo and waiting to get into the last class she needs at to be a dental hygienist. Michelle is signing up at NIACC for 2 years training to become an RN. Dan is thinking of going totally into business for himself as he can make twice the money he is making at his regular job and can't see staying there another 25 years.
