Two rockets were fired into southern Israel by Gaza militants last Thursday. This put a further strain on a shaky, week-old truce as Israel kept vital Gaza border crossings closed in response. This was the second rocket attack since the cease-fire took effect. It led to a call for retaliation by Israel's Foreign Minister while Palestinians charged that the continued closure of crossing violated terms of the cease-fire.
What about their rocket attacks on Israel? Wouldn't you say that was a violation of the truce? I would. Despite this, Israel dispatched an envoy to Egypt in hopes of negotiating a prisoner swap with Gaza's ruling Islamic Hamas. The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which is a violent offshoot of Palestinian President Mah-moud Abbas' Fatah, claimed responsibility for firing the rockets on thursday.
Although one exploded harmlessly in a field according to the military, they were refusing to disclose where the other landed. A statement from the militant group demanded that Israel halt its military operations in the West Bank. You gotta be kidding!!!!
In separate talks with Israel and Hamas, a truce was hammered out by Egypt over months of separate talks with them and this did not include the West Bank. Then, linking the attack to an Israeli raid in the West Bank, Islamic Jihad fired three rockets at Israel, wounding two people. There will never be peace there as long as the earth exists.

Suicide Bomber Kills at Least 23 People
West of Baghdad on Thursday, a suicide bomber attacked a meeting of pro-government Sunni sheiks, killing at least 23 people, including three U.S. Marines. At least 18 more people died in a car bombing in the northern city of Mosul. al-Qaida has been particularly active in these Sunni Arab areas. They seem to wish to undermine U.S. efforts to shore up local administrations and secure the security gains achieved since early last year. The bomber was able to penetrate security because he was wearing a camouflage uniform of the police commandos.

Bone Density Tests
Bone Density tests have improved even since I got my last one a year ago. My husband had one today and they ran him through the scan. They checked several parts of his body whereas before, they would only check the center vertebrae of your spine. I am sure it gives a much more accurate reading of the stage of osteoporosis that you have. Now they have an injection that takes 5 minutes into your vein and you only have to have it once a year instead of taking a weekly or monthly pill for your bones sake.
Millionaires Club Grows
You can add another extra zero to the ranks of the millionaires club. Around the world, the number of people with at least $1 million in assets passed 10 million for the first time last year. This was according to a new report. Not only that but their bank accounts are growing even faster. The combined wealth of the globe's millionaires grew to nearly $41 trillion last year. This is an increase of 9 percent from a year before according to Merrill Lynch & Co. Do you know that means their average wealth was more than $4 million, the highest it has ever been? Right now I could be very happy with any amount from $1,000 to $5,000 to $10,000. I would be tickled pink to be handed that kind of money.

5th of July
Yup! That is what I said - the 5th of July. That is going to be a big day this year too. My brother-in-law is going to be 82 that day. And we have all planned something special for the day. All the cousins of our two families grew up together. Some of them haven't really seen them or had a chance to really visit with them in years because they have been busy with their own families, jobs, etc. But we are having a huge BBQ and lots of food and all the cousins, their kids and their kids' kids. It will be quite a gang. The farthest away is in Indiana and they are coming too. I know we will all have a wonderful time and hope the weather cooperates.
4th of July
This is going to be a great 4th of July weekend coming up. We are going to a nearby town on the 4th to see the State's No. 1 ground display of fireworks. We have been going for quite a few years now and it is new every year. We like to eat our supper there of walking tacos, hot dogs, pop and candy bars - you know, junk food. That is about the only time we do that and we have a great time. We take our lawn chairs and sit out by the football field and at the end they set off the whole field as a Grand Finale. There is nothing like it.

Blogging
Blogging is a lot of fun. It gives you a chance to use your wit and imagination. You can post about anything of interest to you and hopefully your readers. It is fun to read other people's blogs and see the various styles of writing. I really admire so many of them and sometimes wish I could write like that. It seems every age group writes a little different and that is what makes it interesting.
Friends
It is great to have good friends. My friend, Lois, called me from Minnesota today to see if we were having bad storms. The weather channel shows our State all red, which means very bad weather. We watched the sky come up this morning but it kind of split and went north and south with just a shower. The sun is out and the flowers are loving it. They loved the heavy rain they got last night. That will last quite awhile. We had the south window open in the garage and it really wet down that end of the garage.
Buillion
Since almost the beginning of time, when gold was discovered, it has been handled with care and made men wealthy. Long ago, people realized the value of both gold and silver and coveted it. Paper money is no longer even backed by gold and actually is worthless and can be worthless at anytime. But if you check out this online website bullion you can find out the several forms that you can purchase in gold. There are gold coins and ingots or bullion. Silver stockpiles are shrinking fast so it is a great time to preserve your wealth by buying silver. Monex has a very experienced staff that is ready to assist you so why not contact them as soon as possible if you are interested in a good safe investment.

Alzheimer's Gene - Scientists May Have Found It
It is possible that scientists have identified a gene that may raise the risk of getting the most common kind of Alzheimer's disease by about 45 percent in people who inherit a certain form of it. Researchers say that form of the gene appears to hamper a brain cell's ability to take in calcium. If drugs can be found that reverse its effect, they may be useful in fighting Alzheimer's. Wouldn't that be fantastic? It seems that most cases of Alzheimer's appears after age 65 and so far, only one gene has been firmly established as affecting the risk of this late-onset version of the disease. The gene proposed in the new study, called CALHM1, appears to have a much smaller impact on the disease risk. It seems more and more people that I know are getting Alzheimers and some are younger than 65.

Fossils Found in Iowa
Due to all the flooding in Iowa, water has uncovered more of Iowa's past. Among the ruins of concrete blocks, collapsed asphalt and a 4 foot drop where a road used to be, are thousands of fossils from the creatures that lived here 375 million years ago when Iowa was a tropical sea. That is according to the scientists. I choose to believe that it was during the time of the flood of Noah's time that these fossils were floated all over the world and can show up anywhere. This particular area is called the Devonian Fossil gorge. It was created in July l993, the last time water burst over the Coralville Dam spillway. The Park Ranger says this month's flood swept the gorge clean and brought new fossils into view.
Civic Radiator
There is almost nothing worse than having your car heat up. There you are stranded in a busy place or in an out of the way place, and your radiator is leaking. If you are lucky you are close enough to water to get some and get to a place to get it fixed. If you are a do it yourself guy, you can get online to this website Civic Radiator and get a good radiator and save yourself alot of money because there is no middleman. If you take it to a garage, they can get your radiator here for you at a savings. They have have a great many brands and you are sure to find yours here.
Lightning Sparks 800 Fires in California
Monday was a bad day in California. An unprecedented lightning storm sparked more than 800 wildfires. They were burning all the way from Big Sur to wine country to Humboldt County. There are thousands of firefighters battling the blazes on the ground and from the air. Friday night the state and local officials were still counting the fires after the fierce thunderstorms.
Big Black Bear on The Farm
A man was out checking his field when he came across a 6' 10" 300 pound black bear. It was on a farm just 4 miles west of a little town in Iowa. It met hi on a trail and there wasn't room to go either way. When the bear charged he shot it three times with a .300 caliber Winchester rifle. No license is needed to shoot bears in this State. They are sure he is a wild one as he looked like he had never been in a cage. There are a few exotic animal farms around but you never hear of any getting loose. The farmer was concerned for the safety of the cattle in the area.

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to do your own hair? And better yet, your own nails like they do at the salons. You will be ready to start your career in good shape after attending their fine school.
PSA Tests are Important
Listen up men. If you haven't had your PSA and you are over 45 and it may be even younger now, be sure you have it done. My husband was found to have prostate cancer in the year 2000. He took 42 radiation treatments and has been real good until this last year. It has been doubling and going up quite fast. His last report was 9.9 which is not good. We will see the doctor next week to see what the next step is.

She usually drives back by herself but her daughter and husband wanted to come visit the family too. It has been many years since they have been back here. We are all go ing out to lunch tomorrow. That will be fun. She is a real fun person and I haven't seen her daughter since she was 8. My brother will be joining us from the next town and then they will head down to see my sister next. She is a really young 89 and so much fun you would never think of her as being that old.

Economy Limping Along
According to the leading indicators, it shows the economy is limping along. That is because of higher fuel and food prices, tighter credit and a depressed housing market. Also, the number of newly laid-off workers filing for unemployment benefits remained at worrisomely high levels, although it dropped a bit last week. Economic indicators rose 0.1 percent in May and matched April's 0.1 percent advance, but the Conference Board revised March's number down from 0.1 to zero.

I may have to add some more now that I have found this great site to help me.
The Dog Next Door
The dog next door comes to great us every time we go away or come home. I save him scraps and he loves a good bone. He has a football he plays with and has chewed it almost in half. He loves to have me throw it for him. He is a Lab and so goodnatured. We just love his company as we had two on the farm and they are so good with kids. The people next door have 4 kids so he gets some attention but he would like more.

Consumers Give up Small 'Financial 'Vices
During the years of prosperity, the consumers were spending $4 a day on coffee and not just your ordinary coffee but "latte" and all the Starbucks coffees. But now they have begun to rethink the wisdom of such habits. Especially when that adds up and so much is going into their gas tanks. As inflation squeezes budgets, middle class Americans are taking a good look at their spending in search of ways to save a nickel or a dime. The result: Refilling those water bottles with filtered water from home instead of paying $1.39 a bottle. It cuts down on landfill too and helps the "green" effect.

Prince William is Knighted
Prince William was made a Royal Knight of the Garter on Monday at a ceremony presided over by his grandmother, the British Queen, and it was also attended by his father, brother and girlfriend. Queen Elizabeth II made William the 1,000th knight to join the order. He was formally presented with the regalia, including a blue garter, sash and star brooch. At Windsor Castle, after the ceremony, the knights wore their traditional ostrich feather hats and velvet robes as they walked to St. George's chapel in the castle grounds for a service. The Order of the Garter was established in 1348. The monarch can give the honor to anyone she chooses without advice from government ministers. It is meant to honor those who have held public office, who have contributed to national life and who have served the queen personally. Williams, age 25, is second in line to the throne after his father, Prince Charles.
Kratom
Thailand is just a small country, just a little bit smaller than Texas. But that is where the tree grows that they extract kratom from. It was used for many years as sort of opium substitute giving people highs from chewing it or drinking it in water. The men would chew it as they worked to help make them stronger and they could work longer. For many such reasons, it is illegal in Thailand but it can be purchased at this online website kratom but only for use as an incense. Not for taking internally. Although some studies have shown that it can curb depression and give a person a relaxed feeling. I can see why they wouldn't sell it for use and classify it as dope.
Trans Fats
Trans fats is a huge subject these days when everyone is trying their best to be as healthy as they can be. Now effective July 1, New York City will have no trans fats in restaurants. All places to eat must remove artificial trans fats from their menu items. The Health Department ban applied only to fry oils and spreads when it was first implemented last year. But now it will also include baked goods, frozen foods, cannoli and doughnuts. Exempt are foods served in original, sealed packaging, such as candy and crackers. As of last month, 98 percent of inspected restaurants were in compliance, according to the Health Department. Even some food chains and cooking oil manufacturers also have reduced saturated fat by 20 to 35 percent in certain fried foods. This is good for all of us.

Chicken Fajitas
I don't know if I spelled that right but they sure are good. That is what I had tonight along with a hot Cappiccino. I haven't had one for quite awhile and it was delicious. It comes with sour cream and salsa and a side of lettuce, shredded cheese and tomatoe bits. My husband had his usual burito and Pepsi. He wasn't so hungry tonight so didn't get the super size. We had a great talk with the manager about all the flooding in their town. We enjoy getting out like that for a change.
Covered Calls
How do you manage a Covered Call portfolio? With the volatility of the stock market the way it is these days, it is best to be able to manage your portfolio so that at best, you will be able to participate in 70% of the rise in the market and only 30% of the loss. If you are fully hedged in the market, you may be looking for advice on how to manage your CC portfolio. This is where Power Options comes in. Check into their website covered calls. By keeping in contact with them, they can provide you with general tactics to follow. It isn't easy to always know what to do but with helpful advice, you are a step ahead of the game. You can depend on them for wise advice and counsel. If your stock goes down, remains the same, or goes up, they have tips to help you in any case.
Neighbors
We have great neighbors. The gal next door just put out some of the prettiest plants in front of their house. She also has a new little wagon full of flowers that really sets off the front yard. We exchange muffins and cookies from time to time. And another neighbor to the east of us brings us over the most delicious pieces of cake for dessert. She makes the best rhubarb cake and her frosting is out of this world. Another neighbor just brought us a fresh bunch of radishes. They have a little bitty garden but she sure gets alot of wonderful vegetables out of it and shares them with us. It is great to have good neighbors.

Health Checkup
Have you had your yearly or six months checkup yet? It doesn't matter how young or old you are, it is a great idea. My husband went for his fasting blood test this morning. Next week he will find out all about his cholesterol and tryglycerides and more. A PSA test is important for all men over 40 or 45 as it is becoming more common. If you haven't had a checkup lately, perhaps it would be a good idea to make an appointment now . What do you think?

Murders
Have you noticed how many murders you hear about these days? From one person to two to whole families. Some are murder suicides of the whole family. The other day two girls were found murdered in Oklahoma. They were only 11 and 13. They were just out for a walk on a road they were familiar with and the next thing their families were notified they were killed and molested. It is just terrible.

Blooming Flowers
Our flower bed is finally beginning to amount to something. We have added perenials for the lasst three or four years. But we haven't been very happy with how they were growing. every year for the last two years I have added 6 Mums and now they are really growing. I planted some red sedum and it is really spreading this year. Last year, I didn't think it would survive. Another year and we may have all the ground covered with flowers. It is looking pretty good this year.
Grandchild
Our little great granddaughter is crawling all over the place. And she is very very fast. She keeps her mother running to keep up with her. She loves to get into everything as does every little child. Wait till she gets in the pots and pans and has a ball with them. Mom has probably already found that she has to put child locks on doors like that or suffer the consequences of picking up everything over and over. They are so much fun to watch their progress though. Next she will be walking and then watch out!

Tin Russert Remembered
Sunday Tim Russert was fondly remembered by many. He was the host of "Meet the Press" for over 16 years. Tom Brokaw led the conversation on the program remembering Tim. He remembered a sign that Russert had in his office that said "Thou Shalt Not Whine". He choked up remembering Tim's words. NBC also had a prime time tribute to Tim on Friday night. His death became the biggest story of the weekend, second only to the massive flooding in Iowa.

A Moment for Me
I ran across a very cool blog the other day. We all sure need a moment for ourselves now and then. Life gets so hectic. Check into it when you get a chance. I am sure you will enjoy seeing how a Mom and Grammy copes with her busy life. It is very interesting.
Happy Father's Day
I am wishing a very Happy Father's Day to everyone out there that is reading this. We need to appreciate our fathers more. There are too many fatherless families so if you have a father, be sure you let him know how much he is loved and appreciated. My husband is the father of many children and grandfather to many and a great grandfather. And we honor him today. He served in the Army also.

Balancing Act
ever have one of those days when you had too much to do? Did you meet yourself coming and going? Are you chasing your kids around the house because they are learning to crawl or walk? Many of us have gone through those very things. I came across this blog written by a young mother who is going through these things. Check it out when you have a minute. It is pretty cool.
Reveal of the Unknown
I jusst found an awesome site that has stories that are really interesting. One is about the Bermuda Triangle mystery. There is another about something that could possibly be dinasuers on earth. I am very interesting in stories like this and I found them at website. I am interested in the abominable snowman too and things they think they have not seen but cannot prove. Check out this website for something really interesting.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Iowa has been on the national news so much lately. And it isn't good news. It is major flooding of big cities. The Cedar River has flooded Austin, Minnesota and has gone on down to flood every town in its path. Cedar Rapids is the latest victim, being completely flooded this morning. All the sandbagging hasn't helped. Iowa City is already flooding and Missouri is sandbagging in expectation of that same water hitting them next. The weather has really turned violent too with all the tornadoes. It is really terrible.

Stormy Weather
Here we go again. We are in a tornado watch and it is getting darker by the minute. When we got home we opened all the windows to let some fresh air in. But it looks like we will have to close them very soon. The weather is moving in fast and we could get another 5 inches of rain. Everything is badly flooded now. I don't know where it is all going to go. Even the mail is delayed because the town where they sort it has just been flooded.
Dangerous weather
This is dangerous weather. The storms come up suddenly in seconds and it goes from calm and sunny to windy and rain. We don't need any more rain. So many people in our little town lost all the things they had in their basements. The curbs are piled high. The city is going to have a special pickup to get rid of it but there is a lot so it will take time. At least our water treatment plant is ok. Mason City, Iowa has been without drinkable water in their taps for days. Maybe tomorrow they say.

Polish Sausage
Anyone out there like Polish Sausages? We like to have one for lunch every now and then. Get a few chips, cheetos or fritos and you have a quick lunch. Wash it down with cold milk and add a little fruit and you are all set. It is a beautiful sunny day so we have had more time to get outside now that the rain has stopped until tonight. My husband cut off a huge limb that was rubbing on the house roof and eves. Glad to get that done and hauled away. With all the wind, we didn't need that tree branch rubbing on the house.

Steak and Potatoes
There is nothing like a good steak. Especially when you have mashed potatoes and wonderful gravy to go with it. Mix together a great salad and there you are. It is an easy supper, using the grill and whip up an easy dessert, like sliced peaches and you are all set. Fresh biscuits or muffins, butter and jelly finish up the meal. We will probably have an ice cream later on. Sound good?
Weather
What unusual Spring weather we are having. We have had about 12-14 inches of rain in about 3 days. It looks like Minnesota around here. The land of a thousand lakes and we don't have many lakes. The corn fields are flooded out and probably too late to replant corn. Will probably have to plant beans instead, that is if it dries out enough to plant anything at all in the wet places.

Beautiful Weather
Today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining at last. We had thunderstorms again last night. The wind is really blowing hard. There are leaves all over the lawn and on the neighbors roofs. It looks like the rain is over until tonight. They are predicting severe storms every night for a couple more nights and then rain for 4-5 more days. Better get out and enjoy today.

Photos by Email
We got some photos today in our email. They were of cousins that got together a couple weeks ago. We hadn't seen this one cousin for maybe 48 or so years. She was probably 8 last time I saw her and now she is 55. She got to meet all her Aunts and Uncles who could come and get acquainted with family. She had no idea she had so much family. She got to go to her home town too and visit everyone there. She lives in San Diego now. It was a fun time with her going thru old photo albums and re-living alot of past memories.
