CARMAN

We all love CARMAN and his music.  He's a wonderful Christian man who has dedicated his life to seeing many come to Christ and are now on their way to Heaven.  He has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and given a few years to live.  He wants to do one more concert, at least, and you can go to  http://bit.ly/CarmanKickstarter

Farrah Fawcett Dies of Cancer

Cancer took the life of Farrah Fawcett a few days ago. She put up a long valiant fight against it but in the end it won out. She was such a beautiful lady. She was a pinup girl for many. I always enjoyed her movies as she was a great actress and she was only 62. That is too young to die. Too many young women these days are dying in their 30's and 40's of breast cancer. Many cancers are becoming controllable and curable but some seem to keep coming back and when they do they take the life of the one who has it. So sad

Cancer Benefit

Tomorrow is a cancer benefit for a young 38 year old friend of ours. He has a wife and two children and he is fighting colon cancer. He's a big guy so I guess the chemo is a little easier on him but lately it has made him more ill. I pray that they will be able to cure him as he has a lot of life ahead of him and his family need him. Cancer is an awful disease and they are doing a great deal with gene therapy now and I certainly hope they will find a cure soon. They are able to cure more people now than ever with chemo and radiation, but there are still a great many dying of cancer. It seems that breast cancer hits the women in their 35-50 years and not many of them survive. We lost a niece to it this year, leaving behind a husband and two sons.

Senator Arlen Specter's Cancer Has Returned

Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter's cancer has returned. They released a statement on Tuesday that he was diagnosed with an early recurrence of Hodgkin's disease. This is a cancer of the lymph system. Specter, age 78, underwent treatment for the same type of cancer in 2005 and was later given a clean bill of health. The cancer was revealed in a medical scan but he had had no symptoms. He was surprised by the findings as he has been feeling so good. He had been symptom free for three years. Cancer is one of the worst diseases that kills so many people. I feel it is right from Satan himself.

Deaths in Town

Another well-known woman has died of cancer at age 70 in our town. Her name was Betty Sankey and she was a bubbling, smiling person who worked part-time in nearly every business in town. Last time I saw her, she was passing out samples of something in the local grocery store. She fought a hard fight the past two years making alot of of trips to Iowa City and they thought they had it whipped for awhile but it came back with a vengeance and now her funeral is tomorrow.
