Citizens Concerned With Activity at the Pits
In our area, we have an old sandpit that had several bodies of water that were great for fishing and one sandy beach for laying out, or playing in the water. Then it was sold to the DNR who completely revamped it, shut it off from the river, changed it completely so it was no longer fun fishing there and put up fences so you couldn't even drive to your favorite fishing spot. Since the river is cut off from it, there aren't any fish as far as we can tell, just turtles. I don't know if the DNR stocks it or not but it doesn't seem so. They don't take care of the roads that are there either. they have big mud holes so you don't want to drive thru. Now neighbors are concerned because drug needles have been found on the beach and big wheel pickups drive in late at night. Is it lovers or drug dealers passing on drugs? It is scary for the close neighbors. the Sheriff's Department has requested that anyone seeing anything suspicious there, give them a call.
