Fun day
We had a fun day yesterday with my husband's brother and his wife from Wisconsin. first we went to see their 83 yr old sister in a nursing home. she is in an alzheimers ward but she doesn't have that. She had a msssive benign tumor removed from her head a number of years ago now, and it took most of her memory. It even ate away alot of her forehead bone so they later had to go in again and put a metal plate in so she would have a forehead. She is very healthy and looked really good. Very hard of hearing but she knew her brothers right away. Then we went to a country cemetary to see their folks graves. Onward to the little town I grew up in and we lived in for 5 years after we were married. We went to a little restaurant that has been there for years, called the Red Rooster. It has the best food. I enjoyed a big slice of their homemade coconut cream pie first, then had a vegetable burger. Everyone enjoyed various other homemade pies with their lunch. Then off to the spot where they were born on a farm and drove by where the old country school once stood. After that we went into that little town and went to the cemetary where their little brother and little sister are buried. They never had any headstones to mark the grave, so the family got together about 3 years ago and got a stone to mark their grave. They both died at age 9, first the brother, and the next year, the sister at age 9. Then we decided to go to the Historical society and see if they would have a picture of the country school they attended. They couldn't find it right then, but we are going to send them more information and they are going to see if they can find a picture. We ended up back home in the bigger city near us at a wonderful Mexican restaurant we just love and finished off the evening there. Today we are going to a family wedding about 2 hours drive away and see two more older sisters, ages 86 and 88. Agnes, who is 88, flew in from Dallas on Wednesday. We will have a fun day today too.
