Here Come The Mosquitoes

We have had all kinds of thunderstorms during the last week and it has left lake of water standing in all the fields and the ditches are full of water. Mosquitoes LOVE standing water so we can look forward (?) to a bumper crop of the bitey little things. We're used to mosquitoes but now they carry disease and it is more serious than it used to be. The West Nile virus has killed alot of horses and owners need to vaccinate them. They have developed pellets to be dropped in standing water to kill the eggs and those that have already hatched are targeted with spray. If we get a wet humid summer it is going to be even worse. We need alot of good drying weather to dry up all this standing water.
