Record Number of Flu Doses Made for 2007-2008

A record 132 million doses of flu vaccine have been expected to be manufactured for the next flu season this winter. A fifth company may even join in to make more. An Australian company applied last month for federal approval to sell its flu vaccine in the United States this fall. The government has been expanding their flu shot recommendations to cover more age groups and now they say that more than 200 million Americans should get vaccinated each year. Flu kills an estimated 36,000 Americans each year and hospitalizes another 200,000. Isn't that something?
