Forest Fires In Spain

Forest fires have forced the evacuation of l4,000 people in the Canary Islands. They had to evacuate homes, hotels and camps. Firefighters struggled to extinguish fires on tw of the archipelago's popular tourist spots. About 8,000 people were displaced on Tenerife Island where fires have burned 37,500 acres of mainly forest and destroyed 900 homes. Winds of 40 mph and temperatures up to 104 degrees were spreading the flames across the treetops. Main roads were closed.
