Labor Pains?

I just called my grandaughter to see how she is doing. She is a couple of days overdue now. She said she is having some contractions 5 and 10 minutes apart but they aren't always either 5 minutes all the time or 10 minutes all the time. I asked her if she could sleep alright and she said she can so I know she isn't really in full labor yet. Once that starts, there will be no sleeping through them :0) We talked about all the old wives tales about how to start labor. We were told to drive over a rough railroad track. My husband says we went out and drove over all kinds of rough roads and it didn't do a thing to start labor. I don't even remember that.
