Hollywood Writers Go For Strike

Starting next Monday the US screenwriters' union has called a strike to demand a greater share in royalty payments from DVD's and new media sales. There are about 12,000 members of the Writers Guild of America that are being asked to cease work and set up picket lines. Nearly 20 years ago, they went on strike and it lasted about 22 weeks and disrupted the autumn television season. Studio representatives are hoping for a last minute deal to halt the stoppage. I sure hope they do because I have been looking forward to the new season of programs.
