Women's Olympic Basketball

It has been an exciting time watching all the Olympic events. There is so much talent from all the countries involved. But the United States beat South Korea 104 - 60 and it seems Sylvia Fowles and the U.S. women's basketball team were too big for South Korea. Fowles felt she hadn't played well the first two games. She kind of got down on herself. But she scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, so she really contributed to the win for the United States. The Americans face Russia in one semifinal Thursday.

Bush Sets Up Panel To Ensure Safety of Food

President Bush established a Cabinet-level panel to recommend how to guarantee the safety of imported food and other products brought into the country and how to better police them. The White House denied the effort was aimed at China, though the announcement came the same day that senators heard testimony from regulators about problems caused by the extremely rapid growth of imports from China. The panel is expected to report its recommendations to the president in 60 days. It will review procedures and regulations and look at safety issues in countries that send goods to the United States. This is a serious issue.

Al-Quaida To Infiltrate United States

According to U.S. intelligence assessment, Al-Quaida is stepping up its efforts to sneak terror operatives into the United States and has acquired most of the capabilities it needs to strike here. They feel the U.S. will face "a persistent and evolving terrorist threat" within its borders over the next three years. I heard some others say on the news that they like to strike in summer time so keep a lookout for anything strange and unusual and report it to authorities.
