New Surgeries for Knee Replacement

Now they are doing two surgeries for knee replacement. One is the standard method of moving the cartilage aside, removing necessary bone and putting in the new knee replacement. The other is to cut the cartilage, remove the bone, put in the new knee and then sew the cartilage back together again. Well that is what happened to my brother and let me tell you, it takes much much longer to get back on your feet and recover. It takes a long time for the cartilage to heal. It is not fun and takes a great deal more physical therapy.

Replacing Your Knees

If you are having a lot of trouble and pain walking, then it may be time for you to get a knee replacement. I had one put in 14 years ago and another 5 years ago. It looks like I will be having the 14 year old one replaced again due to bone loss of the thigh bone. I will be going in this week to see about it and set up the surgery. It will be kind of a tough surgery I would imagine getting the old replacement taken out first. I want to find out all about it from the surgeon as was not satisfied with the Physicians Assistant I saw.
