Winter has really taken over the country. We are getting snow today and so far we think it has reached 12 inches. However, in the eastern states they are getting this icy weather. It takes down trees and power lines. So many people are without heat. We are so thankful that we didn't get any of that this time.

Mail Time
It is time to go get the mail but I am not sure how slick the road is. It isn't very far but it is too far when everything has a coat of ice on it. Sometimes when I order something, the mailman brings the packages to the door. I really appreciate that. I was hoping I would get a package today so I wouldn't have to go pick up the mail. It is so windy too but at least the snow is wet down so it can't drift. That is one good thing.

Ice and Snow
We watch a neighbor's house while they are in sunny Arizona and I take the mail over and go through the house and make sure the furnace is running good and the plants are watered. This morning there was a pile of ice right in front of the door from the last sleet/snow storm. My husband had to take a spade and break it all loose so I could get in the door. Whoever is moving their snow should have done that before it froze solid. It was a lot of work, but he got it done and we got the house checked and Christmas cactus is blooming. It's too bad they aren't here to see it.
