Harvest Time
It is time to bring in the harvest. We are beginning to see tractors pulling wagon loads of beans from the fields. They come right down a road near us to the elevator to be weighed in and dumped and then back out into the fields to fill those wagons again. It won't be long and the corn harvest will start too and you will see combines filling wagons and semi trucks full of corn also. It is a time to be careful on the roads as you may run into a tractor that is slow moving, especially as you come over a hill and don't see them until you are nearly upon them. Many accidents happen during this time of the year, both on the roads and in the fields. Fires are a danger too and if a combine catches fire out in the field, the fire can spread very quickly. We heard fire engines today and wondered where they might be going. It was a bad day for any fire as it is quite windy today.
