Coney Island Amusement Park

Anyone who has lived in the good old USA has heard of Coney Island Amusement Park or has been there sometime in their lifetime. My husband was there during the Korean Conflict and got to see it while he was in the Army. I would have just loved to have ridden the roller coaster there as it is almost a national monument and I was a real roller coaster lover when I was young. Now the owner of the historic amusement park has announced that it has been closed for good. Carol Albert's family has owned the Brooklyn amusement park for almost half a century. She said she gave up on negotiating a two year lease with Thor Equities after the developer missed a deadline to reply. There are two dozen rides on three acres of Astroland which covers a large part of Coney Island. Though it has been closed there are many other rides, including the historic Cyclone roller coaster and Wonder Wheel, which are not part of Astroland and are not affected by the announcement. So I am glad to hear that more generations will be able to enjoy the Cyclone.
