A Top 100 Hospital Again
Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa has once again been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals. It is the fifth year they have received the award. It is the only Iowa hospital to be named on this year's list. It recognizes hospitals that have achieved excellence in clinical outcomes, financial performance, efficiency and growth in patient volume. It's great that more than half of the top performing hospitals in the U.S. for 2006 are in the Midwest. Ohio and Michigan have 30 of those. If all hospitals performed as well as these 100, 100,000 additional patients could survive each year and an additional 114,000 could avoid complications. Now I think that is saying something really good about these Top 100 hospitals and we are proud to have one in our area.
