Fog

Like the poem says "The fog comes on little cat feet".  It has sure rolled in here. Started last night and is getting worse all the time.  Then to add to it, they say it is going to last all night into tomorrow.  We got freezing rain first.  Lots of sleet.  Everything is a skating rink.  Lots of car accidents and semis overturned on the freeway.  Really bad. Wisconsin got 5" of snow.  I would rather have that than this ice.

Fog

Another foggy morning. It is really a good sign though because it means more snow is melting. We had 6-7" of snow a couple weeks ago. We have been having above normal temperatures now for a couple weeks and the snow has really gone down. The roads are good and you can get around good. It has been the best winter I can ever remember. I have hardly had to use my shovel at all, just broom away a little flurry by the doors.

Rain and Fog

We are really getting the rain now. It is taking down the snow banks quickly. But one thing about it is that it is causing thick fog. It is worse tonight than it was this morning. It was supposed to clear up by noon but it has gotten worse instead of better. It is about 34 degrees so at least it isn't freezing on everything.

Hoar Frost

We got up this morning to a winter wonderland. We had heavy fog last night and it painted every tree, bush and anything that didn't move with a couple of inches of white hoar frost. It is beautiful when the sun comes out. Looks like diamonds everywhere. However, it also looks like the sun isn't going to make it out today. I can see the outline of the sun covered with fog clouds but it was supposed to be shining by noon and it isn't.

The Fog

I believe it was Carl Sandberg that said in a poem "the fog comes on little cat feet" and it sure did today. One minute it looked a little fuzzy a far out and the next minute there was pea soup fog right up to the kitchen window. I went to town to the post office and I could only see about a block and a half either way when turning corners or crossing streets.

I was glad I didn't have to get out of the car because it was slick underneath. It warmed to 40 degrees today and I think the huge piles of snow might have sunk down a bit but there is so much, and now it is going to be colder tomorrow. That is good because then the fog has to go. But there may be freezing drizzle to replace it and that's not good. I did get out of the car to get the mail and there was about 2" of water to walk through to get it. Should have worn my boots. Didn't think of that.

Fog

Carl Sandburg, the poet, once wrote a poem that said in the first line "THE fog comes on little cat feet". Well the fog moved in on us last night and it is really dense. Water is dripping off everything outside. It sounds like rain lightly falling on the roof of the garage. The grass and flowers can surely use the moisture. We did get a bit of rain early last evening and that will help the corn fill in the ears. It is too early for frost yet and the farmers are hoping we won't have an early frost. But with the cold night temperatures, things are not looking good. It could be an early winter in the midwest. I read that the Farmers Almanac said it would be a "numbing" winter. That isn't good with the prices of heating your home and they just sent us a notice with our last bill that everything would be going up again. We are thankful, though, for a warm home.

Fog

We had heavy fog again last night and the trees are all painted white with frost. When the sun comes up and glistens on the trees and bushes, it is like many sparkling diamonds everywhere. It is a sight that artists paint and we enjoy even though we dread a slight warm up knowing there will be fog. The fog is quite dangerous in winter when it gets so thick. Sometimes it is ice fog and you can feel the bits of ice against your face when you go outside.

Turkey and Thansgiving Day

We went to Wal-Mart this morning to return another razor and buy still another one. It was misting when we left and more so when we came home. We got a great 14.4# turkey, that sounds juice and basted with timer there for a good price too. My husband was surprised how heavy it was when he picked it up. We need to go 10 miles tomorrow morning before 8 for a 8:25 appointment with urologist to find out what my husband's PSA is. Every man over 50 should have a PSA blood test taken every year. My husband had prostate cancer in 2000 and had 42 radiation treatments and is doing fine. The fog has been bad for several nights and mornings and hope it isn't foggy tomorrow morning so early.

Fog

Did we ever have the fog this morning!! It started out clear and then just set in. I took our little dog, Holly, to the vet to have her nails clipped and a parvo shot. Had to pick up a bag of her special oral dog food that keeps her teeth really clean. The fog got thicker and thicker. It was so warm though I didn't need my gloves because the steering wheel wasn't that cold. The sun was to come out and turn to 50 degrees today but it isn't. It is melting alot though and when I went to get the mail, I drove through very large lakes of water and had to stand in 2-3 inches of water at the mailboxes to get the mail. Wish all the snow melting the way it is, we can expect alot of fog probably for quite awhile. It causes alot of accidents because people drive like it is clear. The scariest thing is having someone pass you and if you can't see what's coming, they can't either. You just hope there isn't a head-on accident.
