More Summer

Summer ends on the 21st but it is not going to go out yet.  We have had a very long stretch of heat wave again.  We could use any and all rain we could get.  The crops look good but they are suffering.  The air conditioners are working overtime.  Last few days we actually have been able to open the windows and air out the house.  Nice fresh air sure does a person good.  But now we are on our way to another long heat wave from the sounds of it.  There is a good chance of rain this Sunday and first part of the week. I sure hope so as we need it badly.

It is Raining

It is raining, it is pouring, the old man is snoring. Remember that old childhood singsong we used to sing when it rained? I remember on warm summer days when it was a gentle rain without lightning, my mom used to let us walk in the rain and we would walk in the gutters along side our street wading in the warm rain water. Those are the memories you never forget. I can picture my brother and I doing just that right now as I sit here. We didn't care that we were getting wet. To this day, I always say "I am wash and wear" when it rains.
