More Summer

Summer ends on the 21st but it is not going to go out yet.  We have had a very long stretch of heat wave again.  We could use any and all rain we could get.  The crops look good but they are suffering.  The air conditioners are working overtime.  Last few days we actually have been able to open the windows and air out the house.  Nice fresh air sure does a person good.  But now we are on our way to another long heat wave from the sounds of it.  There is a good chance of rain this Sunday and first part of the week. I sure hope so as we need it badly.

Babysitting

Babysitting or grandchild sitting is what my daughter and son-in-law are doing today.  They are watching an almost 2 year old, 4 year old and 6 year old so their parents can attend a big football game today out of town.  They are watching over them in their own home so they can take their naps in their own beds and play with their toys, etc.  It is going to be a beautiful day so the children should be able to go out and play on the swing set too.  If it gets too hot, the house is air conditioned so they can enjoy the indoors too.  They love their grandchildren and really enjoy all the times they can spend with them.

No Shade

It is almost 100 degrees in the shade and no shade. That's an old saying but the heat index today was a killer and it is still very hot. Running the A/C full blast and it can't keep it down to 80 in here. Today is the first full day of summer and it is really summer. We go from cold to hot in 24 hours around here. My husband says if you go out at night you will be able to hear the corn growing. It crackles. You can tell he's a farmer can't you?
