Heavy Storms
Heavy rain, large hail, possible tornadoes and strong winds are all a part of the predictions for today. We had a very heavy rain about 5 p.m. CST yesterday. Got 1 1/2 inches in minutes. Raining hard again this morning and first one brought another 1/4 inch. It's not over yet. Supposed to get at least 2 more storms soon. It has been a wet week. So much flooding up in St. Paul, Minnesota. I really feel so sorry for the people living up there. The Mississippi is unusually highly flooded and it isn't over yet. That means more flooding downstream, going thru Iowa and all states on down to the Gulf of Mexico.

Tornadoes and Straight Line Winds
The tornadoes were flying last night. One man took a picture that showed 2 tornadoes at the same time. Someone else said they saw a picture of a tornado with a rainbow along side it. Our little town was missed entirely. We thank the Lord for that. Just 17 miles South of us, our favorite family restaurant was totally destroyed. I can hardly believe it but I saw the pictures and it is so sad. I hope they are able to rebuilt. It will be sadly missed by a great many people as it was the best around in 50 miles. Many towns are dealing with flooding due to the high rains. Winds uprooted huge trees in some places.

Severe Storms
We have had hardly any rain for a very long time. We are in deep drought and could use as much as 16 inches to soak down into the ground to be normal. All the crops are out already and the elevators look bare. Now the weatherman says it is going to warm up tomorrow. It was 20 this morning. Then we are to have severe storms starting in mid afternoon. We could have strong winds, hail and even tornadoes are possible. I sure hope that doesn't happen. Quite a few years ago, a town 17 miles away from us was hit by an F5 tornado in October so it is completely possible. I hope we just get a good soaking rain. We sure need it.

Scary Storms
It seems like there have been a lot of scary storm almost everywhere in the United States. Someone caught this picture and put it on Facebook one day.
It looks like that place is in for a bad storm. I do not know or understand why storm chasers chase tornadoes. It has to be one of the scariest jobs around.

Scary Weekend
It was a very scary weekend for a great deal of central United States as tornadoes and straight line winds and wind sheer did a great deal of damage in many towns. I believe Oklahoma got hit the worst of all. I heard there were 120 tornadoes just this weekend and Oklahoma got hit the worst. However, Kansas and Nebraska also were hit as well. We got rain which we needed badly, however, the tornadoes went all around us and up to Minnesota. I haven't heard yet just how bad it was in Wisconsin but it was headed that way and to Chicago. Guess I will go watch some news now and see what happened there.
