Dogs and Diabetes

It can be quite a problem when your pet dog has diabetes. It is especially hard to check their blood sugar as you have to poke their paw and that hurts. Dogs get regular insulin shots and I had a neighbor who had a cat that was diabetic and she had to give her a shot every day too. I am glad that we have had many dogs in our lifetime and none had to have shots for diabetes. It is a good thing though they can be treated or their lives would be cut shorter.

Pets

It seems like ever since we have been married we have had a dog. We have had several breeds. However, the Boston Terriers are our favorite. They are so quiet, not barking all the time like some of the little dogs we have had. She is very smart too and learned various tricks very quickly. Now that she is older, she is trying to talk to us and we are figuring out what she wants by the noises she makes. Isn't that funny. Here she is checking out some new dog food we got for her.



She really loves it and would eat too much if we let her.

Dogs

Our little dog, Holly, somehow strained or hurt her neck. I don't know if she did it jumping off chairs or stumbling down the steps to go outside. But you can tell right away because she kind of hangs her head and has a sad look in her eyes. We have some great pain pills from the Vet from when she did it last time. I gave them to her 3 days in a row and she is just fine now. They are somewhat like people with their arthritis and injuries.

The Dog Next Door

The dog next door comes to great us every time we go away or come home. I save him scraps and he loves a good bone. He has a football he plays with and has chewed it almost in half. He loves to have me throw it for him. He is a Lab and so goodnatured. We just love his company as we had two on the farm and they are so good with kids. The people next door have 4 kids so he gets some attention but he would like more.
